TheMoose1234
I've only checked out a couple episodes from that podcast--one of which I've listened to a couple times. It's really good :)
TheMoose1234
BTW, do you have any fav trails you like to run? I have largely been running around the neighborhood (saves time as I don't have to drive anywhere), but I'm craving new places!
TheMoose1234
It's hard to put most things into practice with the busy lives we all lead, but I think the biggest thing for me is just to stay focused on the big things and don't let little annoyances bother me too much. I can understand your apprehension on trail running. I'm just getting tired of the stuff around my place, I feel like a change of scenery would really help jumpstart my mileage.
PurpleEggplant
There is a The Subtle Art of not Giving a F***. documentary! I just watched its trailer. It looks fun. I also found the author giving the summary of the book on Youtube. I agree with the author's philosophy :)
Scissorhands
The Subtle Art of not Giving a F*** is a great read, really opened my eyes in a time where I was very lost in terms of career and social circles. Have that book annotated to the gills and re-read a few times now.
TheMoose1234
@PurpleEggplant -- I'll have to check out the documentary! I have been listening and enjoying the podcast, try that if you haven't yet. Some are really good.
TheMoose1234
@Scissorhands--pretty cool that you've re-read it a few times. I think I'm going to give that a try soon as well, I put the book back in the list of things I need to read :)

You asked me about my experience in tech and I'm not sure how much to repeat here but the tl;dr is that I like it ok, but it's been a tough transition in some ways
Loveschihuahuas
Have you ever lived outside of Cali? “The winter months are hard” comment makes me think not!! I’m from England and I can tell you, I echo that sentiment in England that’s for sure!!
TheMoose1234
@pagrus -- you were in tech for a long time from the sounds of it so I'm not surprised that the transition has been tough. I'm planning to bail out of tech soon, I think I have about 2-3 years left. Just want a change.
TheMoose1234
@Loveschihuahuas yeah was hatched in Minnesota and also lived in Colorado as a kid. I just need a lot of sunlight--the days when it gets dark around 4:30 are tough for me!
pagrus
I mean, I haven't been in tech all that long, that's partly why the transition was dificult
TheMoose1234
@pagrus--gotcha...for some reason I thought you were in tech for a while. It's been a long time for me in that industry and I'm thinking it's getting close to finding something else for change of pace.
ItsAllConnected
I just started to get back into running myself - slow and steady!
queensizemo
Thanks for the podcast recommendation! Do you listen to. the podcast while you run? I'm a slow runner, usually listen to upbeat pop music when I run. Recently slowly developing the feeling of "music is so loud for my ears" (prob getting old lol), wondering if I should try podcast while running outdoor.
ItsAllConnected
Queensizemo, I agree that a podcast or audiobook is a great companion when I am just trying to get long, slow mileage in—that way, I can be entertained and enjoy the story. When I'm trying to be speedier (it's relative speed), I prefer the "audio caffeine" of the music to uplift and focus me.
TheMoose1234
@queensizemo I haven't been listening to podcasts while running...I'm too afraid I'll just zone out around cars or other runners! But I would suggest something lighthearted if you wanted to give it go, like something that doesn't command your full attention. Maybe try "How Stuff Works" which is around 45 mins an episode and doesn't move at breakneck speed
